J.K. Rowling is a feminist. She isn't defending women's rights against transgender people for very cynical reasons. Clearly, there is conviction - I was going to accuse her of doing it for the attention and something to do with deriving an alternate source of pleasure for her shriveled-up feminist vagina, post-menopause. She has faced public backlash and boycotts and opposition from the very people who have helped bring her work into the mainstream. At the same time, praise from high profile people (including Elon Musk) who will defend her name over X/Twitter in making women's spaces solely for women again. Who wouldn't disagree with sticking it to the men who still retain their male-pattern violence even in their new lives as "women."
However, this is missing a vital piece of the puzzle. Around the mid-2010s, she advocated for refugees: "If you can't imagine yourself in one of those boats, you have something missing. They are dying for a life worth living." At the same time, she hasn't personally housed those migrants in any one of her luxurious properties across the UK.
As migrant-related (sexual) violence exploded - not just in the UK, but across Western Europe - there has not been a single peep from her about it. I recall her defenders saying: "She is not obligated to tweet about anything she doesn't want to." But this is ignorant at best.. and dangerously disingenuous at worst. The reality of white women's lives is facing the risk of harassment and (sexual) assaults every time they leave their homes, and walk the streets or take the transit into public spaces. A reality on which she has remained eerily silent to this day.
I have made disparaging remarks about transgenderism myself, saying that it is essentially an ideology which relies on sexually vulnerable parasitism to survive. But facing reality, the proportion of trans-related violations against women is negligible in light of the beyond intolerable conditions in which Western women face reluctance to live, let alone start a family with. Even if J. K. Rowling's anti-trans stance were to succeed absolutely, there will be no women left who will care to thank her for her endless scathing put-downs of her opponents.
There are certain things in life which do not become apparent until you have lived them yourself. If the winds have blown the other way, and J. K. Rowling had to still face life as a working-class Scottish citizen, transgender people would be among the last things she'd talk about. But thankfully, she lives in an ivory bubble where the realities of everyday women do not impinge upon her sheltered feminist purview. Fucking bitch.
